Matti Degueldre

I studied Graphic Design at the Sint-Lucas Institute. After starting up a light-installation collective with two friends—Entre Chien Et Loup, later to be named Nacht Collectief—
I began taking on design assignments across Europe, which I did for nearly four years. This period was formative not only in developing my visual language, but also in learning how to collaborate, coordinate ideas, and guide creative processes with others.

I balanced my day job with personal creative work. Eventually, I received offers from more established agencies, so I decided to design for Showcase on a freelance basis. This allowed me to work on a wide range of projects—from emerging brands to current events—while deepening my interest in creative management: shaping concepts, aligning teams, and fostering meaningful exchanges between creators, clients, and audiences.

Throughout my career, I’ve been driven by a passion for connecting with people, understanding their perspectives, translating their stories, and building creative environments where ideas can thrive collectively.

My creative approach—no matter the medium—is to find points of tension behind the idea I’ve been assigned or am interested in. I do several iterations on each point and usually end up refining the one I find most controversial.

For me, controversy isn’t about instigation, but rather, a way to arrest your audience. It’s a way to plant a little bit of desire in their hearts; a yearning to turn off everyday boredom and to be enveloped by a daydream come real. Ultimately, it’s about creating memorable experiences.
